GIPO at 2017 Commonwealth Cybersecurity Forum

On 23 March, the 2017 Commonwealth CyberSecurity Forum took place in London, with the declared intention of developing effective tools, processes and a shared culture that better protect privacy, data and critical infrastructure.

As part of the Cyber Capacity-Building panel, Kasia Jakimowicz presented GIPO's Observatory Tool as a capacity-building tool that enables both access and information sharing to support Internet governance. The presentation focused on its usability and how crucial collaboration between users adds directly to the quality of the tool.

The panel discussion focused on best practices for embedding and implementing strategies and capacity-building tools stressing the importance of collaboration between different actors. Lasatha De Alwis, a member of the AG Advisory Group, highlighted the unique ecosystem of stakeholders collaborating in the process of shaping GIPO.

Flash GIPO tool webinar for NRIs

28 April 2017

The GIPO team is pleased to announce a webinar later this month organised exclusively for national and regional Internet Governance Forums (NRIs) in cooperation with the IGF Secretariat. The webinar will explore how NRIs can use the Global Internet Policy Observatory Tool to their advantage in helping monitor Internet policy developments around the world, and how best to implement its user-friendly services in practice.

Through a variety of real-life case studies, strategic talks and technical break-out sessions participants will learn about international best cyber-security practice while networking with industry peers, suppliers and law enforcement.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise. At this national meeting delegates will discuss, exchange information and share good practices to inform and inspire those with policy-making power in both the public and private sectors in Finland.

TNC17 Networking Conference

29 May - 2 June 2017 Linz, Austria

The TNC Networking Conference is the largest and most prestigious European research networking conference, with more than 650 participants attending this annual event.

This year's conference, TNC17, will be hosted by ACOnet, Austria's national research and education network (NREN), represented by the University of Vienna and showcase the Art of Creative Networking.

The European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) is an open multi-stakeholder platform to exchange views about the Internet and how it is governed. This is not a conference, it is a year-round dialogue on politics and digitisation across the whole European continent which culminates in an annual event.

GIPO is excited to be presenting the Observatory Tool to this motivated group of stakeholders.
